Jusiruma - music and me
Ever since as a 5-year-old I looked behind the radio for the orchestra, I have been enthralled by music. As a teenager, Beethoven's last string quartets were my obsession. Many a sleepless night would be spent playing them through in my head, especially opus 130, 131 and 132. This was music so much in advance of anything else that I knew. Mozart appealed with his perfect harmonies, but he was speaking the language of his rich patrons. Haydn, thanks to his upbringing and long-term employment at Esterhazy, was able to speak in a more down-to-earth way. His witty allusions to everyday life made his string quartets, as well as the symphonies, the staple of my musical life. Schubert enabled me to enjoy the story-telling part of music. As well as going to concerts and recitals, I started to build up a library of recorded music. To begin with I had 40 reels of tape that I played on a massive machine. Inevitably the contents of these tapes was transferred to over 800 casettes. Now the entire library of 1500+ MP3 files is stored on my mobile and on this website.
