Celebrating Muriel

Glider, artist, gardener, mum

Quite a lot behind that thumb

But surprised we should not be

At this sign of spirit free

From China to the Forest New

She has admirers not a few

So look and wonder at her now

As on this day she takes a bow

The population of the world

Is in two parts mainly twirled

The distant many can but infer

We lucky few are changed by her

Today our Muriel's eighty-five

And we are glad to be alive

To celebrate her damn good sense

Now let unbounded joy commence
