John O'Groats to Land's End - 1989

August 8th - Garramore to Glen Nevis 
(43 miles)

We covered this distance in under five hours, so we could
do some shopping in Fort William. The first fifteen miles 
were quite delightful, through a wooded valley with no big
hills and no rain. We passed one cafe at Arsaig and one 
hotel at Lochailort and then stopped at Glenfinnan for 
soup and rolls. After this the road flattened out and the 
ride became quite boring, apart from the fantastic scenery 
either side and with Ben Nevis in front. With eight miles to
go it started to rain and when we got to Fort William it
