John O'Groats to Land's End - 1989
August 28th - Lynton to Hartland
(48 miles)
Sunshine and tailwind again! After Porlock and Lynton, we hardly
noticed the hills on this day's ride. We followed a delightful shady
lane from Blackmore Gate to Barnstaple, where we had nut loaf
and rice for lunch. Avoiding the new main road to Bideford, we
were rewarded with a charming view of 'the little white town' from
East-the-River. Bideford itself was full of bank Holiday activities,
so we made our way to Clovelly Cross and then tried to find
Hartland youth hostel. After several circuits of the local lanes, we
eventually made it by about 6pm. NEXT
