John O'Groats to Land's End - 1989
 
August 29th - Hartland to Boscastle 
(31 miles)

Very dull, with a nasty headwind all day. We rode very 
slowly to Kilkhampton for elevenses, then even more 
slowly to Bude for lunch. I bought a new tyre for my back 
wheel, the old one being completely bald. Who said just 
like its owner? Looking at the map, there was a choice 
between a very hilly coast road or a less hilly main road. 
Well, we started on the coast road, but switched to the 
main road to give ourselves a rest from the hills. But it 
was no good, because when we got to the Boscastle 
turn-off, we had to go up again and into the wind.  NEXT
