John O'Groats to Land's End - 1989
August 30th - Boscastle to Perranporth
(44 miles)

We were not looking forward to this ride, expecting killer hills
and a headwind, but once we had climbed the one-mile hill
out of Boscastle we found the road quite pleasant. It seemed
to be mostly downhill, with just a light crosswind. We had to
use the ferry from Rock to Padstow, whch was tricky because
the river was so low. Climbing up some rickety steps with a
loaded bike is not my favourite activity. We left after lunch in
Padstow in brilliant sunshine and managed the 'hilly bit' quite
easily. The only problem was the wind and, in the last ten
miles, the pouring rain. NEXT
