Sidney's world record

On Friday 5th September 2014 Sidney Schuman set a world record for the hour (80 to 84) at the Olympic Velodrome in London.

He started training for this in May, did eight further training sessions at the velodrome and managed to ride 28.388km on the day.

This record stood for a year before it was broken in October 2015. It was subsequently broken again and it now stands at 39km.

By comparison, the current elite hour record is held by Filippo Ganna at 56.792km.
